Under Ground Service Location (UGSL) and Tank Location

Underground drilling and excavations can be risky.  Services such as gas, electricity, fibre optics and water often cross a site, with minimal information available as to their location.  GroundTruth use specialised equipment to locate these services and greatly minimise the risk of an incident.  To locate underground storage tanks we use standard services locators such as cable and pipe locators,  as well as magnetometers, and ground penetrating radar (GPR)

Drilling

GroundTruth has recently undertaken drilling, sampling and restitution works for the Princess Hardware Group in Toowoomba, Queensland.  This has identification of services and subsequent drilling bores through concrete, pavements and developed areas to investigate soil contamination and site reparation works.  Works had to be completed to a return the site to a pre-investigation condition.

Soil and Ground Water Sampling

Unfortunately contaminated sites, known or hidden, are common.  They may be the result of historic practices or a recent accident.  Once discovered, it is important (and often essential) that they are investigated and managed to ensure that further contamination or impacts on the community do not occur.  GroundTruth apply high QA/QC standards for sample collection and abide by legislative requirements for the same. We are experienced in current requirements for NSW and Victorian UPSS assessments and monitoring.

Tank Extraction and Rehabilitation

Extracting tanks is not for the light hearted.  You need to be accredited for this process and will need approvals from Council, Work Cover and also possibly from the State Government environmental protection agencies.

Underground Petroleum Storage Systems (UPSS)

In June 2009, NSW laws were enacted regarding the use and decommissioning of UPSS.  Whether they are active or not, new or old, on your land or land you are purchasing, you are responsible for them.  UPSS tanks need to be decommissioned or monitored.  GroundTruth can help you with all stages of these new UPSS regulations.
